How we rank
Each category ranking is the same top-three we publish on that category’s own comparison page, based on our tests of price per portion, Trustpilot rating, menu breadth and flexibility. Tap a kit for the full review, or the button below the list for the whole category comparison.
Prices and ratings are taken from our own provider reviews (checked July 2026) and our box-size checks of 17 August 2026. Starting per-portion prices are each provider’s advertised “from” price: individual recipes can cost more.
How to read the result
The winner in each category is not always the cheapest kit. Riverford tops our overall ranking on the strength of a 4.8 Trustpilot score, fully organic sourcing and free delivery, even though its £6.40 starting price is nearly double Gousto’s £3.52. If your first question is budget, switch to the Budget view, where Gousto, HelloFresh and Grubby lead on price.
Every price shown is the provider’s advertised starting per-portion price, as published in our reviews in July 2026. The price you actually pay depends on box size, the recipes you pick and delivery: our meal kit cost calculator turns those into a weekly total for your household.
