Owner & Editor-in-Chief, MealboxGuide

Mads leads MealboxGuide and makes sure every comparison, test, and recommendation on the site is independent, transparent, and built on documented numbers – never on guesswork or paid placement.

About Mads

Mads Bukholt is the owner and editor-in-chief of MealboxGuide. He has spent years working in consumer finance and independent comparison services, helping shoppers cut through pricing and choose confidently.

That same approach drives MealboxGuide: cutting through provider marketing to give an honest, data-driven picture of which meal kit actually fits a given household – on price, quality, flexibility, and nutrition.

6providers researched & compared
87pages maintained & fact-checked
100%independent – no paid placement

Focus Areas

What Mads works on and evaluates providers against:

· Meal kits & ready-to-eat meals · Consumer finance & price per portion · Independent research & comparisons · Subscriptions, commitments & cancellation · Nutrition & official dietary guidance · Organic & sustainability
"A meal kit is a recurring line item in the budget – so the recommendation you get here has to hold up to scrutiny. That's why we always put a source on the numbers, and say so plainly when something can't be documented." – Mads Bukholt, Editor-in-Chief

How We Ensure Credibility

1 Independence

Our rankings are built on price, quality, flexibility, and nutrition – never on who pays us the most. We may earn a commission through links, but it never affects our ratings.

2 Sourced Data

Every number has a source. Trustpilot scores, prices, ownership details, and financials come from providers' own pages, public company records, and credible trade press – not guesswork.

3 No Fabricated Data

We never publish a number we can't document. When something can't be verified, we say so openly instead of filling the gap with an estimate.

4 Ongoing Updates

Prices, offers, and ratings change. We update regularly and date when data was last pulled, so you know how fresh it is.

Corrections record

A methodology is only worth what it does when it fails. On 30 July 2026 we withdrew a nutrition score this site had published for months: a 0–100 rating with per-provider gram figures, described as our own benchmark of UK dishes. The figures were not derived from UK menus. We removed every instance across the site, rewrote the pages that depended on it, and published the full reasoning rather than deleting quietly.

What You Can Rely On

  • Independent research of 6 UK meal kit providers – HelloFresh, Gousto, Mindful Chef, Riverford, Green Chef, and Grubby
  • Nutrition reporting limited to provider-published per-recipe figures and auditable certifications – no composite score, and a public correction issued in July 2026 when an earlier score failed that standard
  • Ownership and financials verified via public company records and trade press
  • Trustpilot ratings pulled directly from providers' profiles and dated
  • Transparency about affiliate commissions – it never changes a ranking
  • An editor-in-chief with a name and a face behind every recommendation
